About Economy Greek Foods
Economy Greek Market started in 1901 by Steve Economy and was passed on to his son Chris Economy in 1950. Jimmy Katsaros worked for Chris Economy for five years before Chris decided to retire and sell the business to the Katsaros family.
New Location and a Deli
Jimmy managed the business with the help of his mother Marge and sister Christine at 973 Broadway. A deli was added to the business as it moved to its new location at 1035 Lincoln. Over the years the Greek market transitioned to a wholesale distributing company of Greek and Middle Eastern Foods. The wholesale business continued to grow and a warehouse was build at 717 Lipan, its current location.
Still Family Owned and Operated
Later, Economy Greek Market was changed to Economy Greek Foods, and James, Jimmy's son joined the family business. Jimmy and James currently operate Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from the warehouse at 717 Lipan Street, Denver, Colorado 80204.
